calculation of Chougahdiya
The given table gives an illustration if the Sunrise and Sunset of a city occurs at 6’o clock sharp. If the day span is short as in winters then the time periods will squeeze uniformly for the time by which the 12 hour sunshine period is diminished divided by 8. Simultaneously the Choughadiyas of night will increase uniformly by the same time. The reverse occurs during Summers when the length of day increases, increasing the span of a particular Chougadiya and simultaneously decreasing the same for night.
- For calculating properly one should find out the local times of sunrise of the day and next both. Sunset time of present day is required.
- Subtract sunrise time from sunset and convert it into minutes.
- Divide the same by 8.
- Start adding that time to time of sunrise. If the time of sunset is found in the calculation, we have done it correctly otherwise something is wrong and needs to be checked.
- Arranged one by one in the table they represent the day’s choughadia.
Similarly, we repeat the steps 3 to 5 for finding choughadias of night by subtracting the time of sunset from the time of next day’s sun rise.
Many people follow the time given in the applications of mobile. Often those calculations are given on the basis of Delhi’s Sunrise timing. If it is so, you shall have to make necessary adjustments as done in the page of Rahu Kal. E.g. a person at Varanasi shall have to subtract 24 minutes from the time given there.
We may help you by calculating the same for your city if required.
